| Column - The Roots of the Alive Theories |
| Posted by Jon on Saturday, March 30, 2002 |
In this column I examine the possibility that the hints towards the alive theory that are present on the Makaveli album may be a result of Tupac purposely placing them on the album to ensure his legacy long after his death.

| Suge denies accusations about Tupac |
| Posted by Chris on Tuesday, March 26, 2002 |
HITS Daily Double recently conducted an interview with Marion "Suge" Knight, below is a part of it in which he's talking about Tupac:
HITS Daily Double: What about the accusations that follow you around, your implication in the deaths of Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac by MTV, Rolling Stone and the L.A. Times. People don't want to let it rest, even though you’ve never been charged.
Suge: I think it's sad that your competition will go to extremes to lie. The thing is, I'm not the one who benefits from these guys being dead. I think I took a bigger loss than anyone. Pac was one of my best friends, my little brother. And not just business-wise. We were tight. I took a loss. Suge Knight was going to put out Tupac records regardless. I was in business even before Pac was on the label.
There was no truth he wanted off Death Row?
You have to realize one thing: If he did, I would have let him go. But I know he didn't. I never stopped no one from leaving. You don't want to be here, you don't have to be here. The thing about it is, he basically got to do anything he wanted. He didn't like certain artists on Death Row no more. Like, him and Snoop fell out. That's another story. Take Biggie: Puffy benefited from his death, I didn't. Puffy wouldn't have been able to be a rapper otherwise. Biggie was like, "Listen. I'm the rapper. You can't be the rapper. And if you're gonna be a rapper, I'm going to Death Row or another label."

The song features Killa Kres who says "what's wrong with these n*ggas Jay, n*ggas think they untouchable and shit, gotta get they mind right and shit, I don't know who the fuck they think they is, same shit that got Tupac shot n*gga, Rocafella for life."

| Dead or Alive pt. 1 - Jay-Z diss to Tupac |
| Posted by Jon on Friday, March 22, 2002 |
Here's the track we mentioned earlier (Rocafella dissing Tupac>). Thanks to the 50 some odd people who sent it in hookups for it, we definitely got it. Some people say that the song isn't a direct diss to Tupac because Jay-Z doesn't mention his name. Well apparently there have been two releases of this song, and the first mentions Makaveli. We're working to hook that track up as well.

| Ignorance lives on |
| Posted by Rukas on Wednesday, March 20, 2002 |
AllHipHop.com reported that Students at Woodbury High School in New Jersey were painting a mural of Hip-Hop's fallen greats, Tupac Shakur, Big Pun, Eazy-E and B.I.G, along side exisiting murals of Jimi Hendrix and The Beatles, but the schools social worker put a stop to the project and made the students stop the mural. Gloria Goode, the social worker, stated that the hip-hop murals would send the wrong message to young black males.
I'm sure you will all agree with me that this is total bullshit. I think Ms Goode should actually listen to some of the great music these musicians released during their short lives and some of the positive messages they contained. She has obviously never heard 'Dear Mama', 'Keep Ya Head Up' or any of the other great inspirational songs Tupac released. I think Gloria Goode needs to wake up and stop paying attention to the stereotypical views of people who think hip-hop is nothing except "gangstas, guns and bitches". The only bitch in this case is called "ignorance". |
| Xzibit on Columbia Records |
| Posted by Rukas on Wednesday, March 20, 2002 | |
As you may have heard, Loud Records has now closed its doors and released all its artists from their contracts. One of these artists is Xzibit, who has now found a new home on Columbia Records. While other sites have reported this, they have also speculated on what this means for Xzibit's Man Vs. Machine. I have heard from a source that Columbia has no plans on delaying his album anymore then absolutely necessary as Xzibit walked away from Loud with his masters in hand. |

| Xzibit, DJ Quik & B-Real; The Weakest Links? |
| Posted by Jon on Saturday, March 16, 2002 |
Many rappers are accomplished wordsmiths, but now fans will get to see just how smart they are in other areas. Last week Da Brat, Xzibit, Jermaine Dupri, the Rev. Run, Cypress Hill's B-Real, Nate Dogg, Young MC and DJ Quik taped an episode of NBC's "Weakest Link" scheduled to air April 28. "That was definitely the funniest television or radio show I've ever done or been a part of," Quik said in a statement. "[Show host Anne Robinson] asked Nate why he had his hands in his pockets. Nate said, 'So I won't steal anything.' We were all dying."
Although everyone loved the wise guy, Quik said they didn't take too kindly to a smarty-pants in the group. "I'm not going to say anything about who won, but that show just goes to prove [it] doesn't matter if you're a school kid or a famous rapper, nobody likes a know-it-all," he said. Fans will have to wait until the show's air date to see who was the strongest link, but a spokesperson for the program did disclose that Robinson, who some have called TV's rudest woman, apparently found a favorite in "X to the Z." Robinson's rep said she had a great time with all the MCs, who were playing for charity, but rousting Xzibit brought the biggest smile to her face. |

| Smif-N-Wessun talks about their time with Tupac |
| Posted by Chris on Saturday, March 16, 2002 |
DaveyD.com recently interviewed Smif-N-Wessun. Below is a part of the interview in which they talk about Tupac:
"Alongside the group's difficult times have come some memorable encounters with people who have affected them greatly in their work. Their recollection of recording with Tupac during a time in hip-hop that Tek describes as 'the orange of the fire' is vivid and emotional. Steele quiets the room as he speaks of a time when one man’s passion made such an impact on them. 'It was more than just working with son. We spent seven days out there in his house – and we sat and we talked about a lot of different things. We didn't get into beef, 'cause it was in the middle of the East/West beef. I mean he was so charged with havin' us down there. We was sittin' amongst each other, and I remember the most important thing him sayin' was, 'Yo, I wanna bring this whole East/West shit back – we do this One Nation album, we gonna do the first album over here, then the second album we want y’all to do it on Duck Down.' We was just buildin' – I mean it was just so electric in the room and we sittin' in the room like we known each other for a while – it wasn't no contracts, it wasn't no women in bikinis runnin' around, it wasn't no music or a whole bunch of gang bangers or nothing like that – it wasn't all the things you may [read] about in the magazines or see on TV. It was soldier to soldier – comrade to comrade. We watched a video he just did, we smokin' back, smokin' mad week 'til we all passed the fuck out, then we get up – son's just laid out. I mean this was in the middle of a war, and he's in the bed asleep. But we get up and it's all love. We'd get up and have breakfast – there wasn't no bitches runnin' around in the pool – we grab water guns and we start playin' – then at night time we was in the studio – the Outlawz would come scoop us up. They welcomed us.'"

| Reason why Ashes to Ashes wasn't released |
| Posted by Jon on Friday, March 15, 2002 | |
According to Tim Quiggle the reason that Ashes to Ashes didn't appear on Naughty by Nature's album is because Afeni wanted too much money for the track. Rumor from an anonymous source is that a Tupac verse is going for a cool $10 million. According to yet a different source Afeni is also charging artists to guest appear on Tupac's albums. We're going to look into this further. |

Trackmasters. |

| Update on Tupac album release |
| Posted by Jon on Wednesday, March 13, 2002 | |
One of the reason's the new 2pac album has been delayed is to due problems caused for the Shakur Estate by Interscope Records & Jimmy Iovine. Interscope is seeking to take a large cut off each album sale & have refused to give the album any kind of release priority or promotion, which has forced the Estate to stall work on the album. The Estate have hinted that the current problems with Interscope would not be happening if Tom Whalley was still at Interscope Records, & that they feel Interscope are being greedy & acting unfairly trying to profit from what they see as little work or effort on their part while the Estate & Tha Row do all the hard work. |
| DPG vs. Tha Row in Vegas |
| Posted by Rukas on Wednesday, March 13, 2002 |
This isn't really news, I just wanted to clear up some rumors. People have been contacting me asking about a rumored fight between the Dogg Pound/Crips and Tha Row/Bloods. Supposidly the fight also included rapper WC who is a Crip on DPG's side and DJ Quik who is a Blood on Tha Row's side. From what I can gather, this is not true. DJ Quik and WC were definitaly not there and there is no evidence to support any sort of fight took place between the two parties in Vegas.
One thing that I have heard happened from Xile Loc, was that Snoop was in Vegas promoting his new clothing line when he suddenly got up and left the building as he saw Suge Knight and 2 others approach his table. |

Ruthless Records filed a suit against the group in July, 2001 accusing them for not upholding their contractual obligation to deliver six albums.
"It's a whole lot better. Basically, we had to just stand up and just get certain things that we wanted," he told Launch.com. "You know what I'm saying? Let them know that we [are] men, we [are] rapper, [are] still having fun, but on top of all of that, we [are] businessmen now. It got to be the way we want it, or we can go about it another way. Whatever it takes."
"It's all business, and everything," Layzie Bone said. "When we set out for a goal, we got to handle our business. We gots to get paid. So we went and fought with them. But this is family. We worked it out." |
