Chairmen Of The Boards |
| Posted Monday, September 24, 2001 by Chris |
In August, Timbaland told MTV that he'd like to do a major collaboration with Dr. Dre.
"I want to a Dr. Dre/Timbaland album," he said. "We've been talking about that. We're trying to do something real crazy."
On Thursday, Timbaland announced that the album will become reality. He says his label, Beat Club's, artists and Dre's label, Aftermath Entertainment's, artists will be featured on the album.
"[We've] been talking about doing an album called Chairmen Of The Boards," Timbaland said in a recent interview on MTV. "You're the first person who I talked to about it. Dre has kept it under wraps, I kept it under wraps. He was going to get a couple of other [producers] like [Jermaine Dupri], but I really think it should be me and him. We've been talking about it for the last two months. We'll pick artists we feel like we should do the beats for and put it out and promote it." |

The Shakur Thing (washingtonpost.com) |
| Posted Wednesday, September 19, 2001 by Jon |
An article about Tupac was published in the September 19th issue of the Washington Post. The article is so unbelievably bias that it leans more towards hate speech than journalism. The author attempts to critique the new Tupac Book, "Holler If Ya Hear Me". What the author, who states "specializing in criticism of West Coast hip-hop", does, is critique the life of Tupac from a bias and closed mind. It makes you wonder why he would bother writing the column at all; but I guess he's not the only person in life who makes a living shooting down other people.

Rapper's terrorist attack statements |
| Posted Wednesday, September 19, 2001 by Chris |
Below is statements from several rappers about the terrorist attack on World Trade Center:
?uestlove: I pray that all of you are truly enjoying life. If you learn nothing at all, learn this: TAKE NOTHING FOR GRANTED. For real. NOTHING. So what lies ahead for us? I dunno. I find it strange that they have covered the identity of the men who were down with this mission in Boston. Makes me think that America will find what they want to. I'm sure the parents of Chandra Levy wished the government could act just as swift and intense in the search for their daughter. Or what about the so called Atlanta Olympic bomber?
Bad Azz: I'm like this man, it's bigger than us. It's out of our control, we gonna let God handle it and if we end up going to war and man kills some more man then its in God's hands. This life is something bigger than us, so we got to let go and let God handle it. It's like kids fight in the sandbox, grown men fight in the world. It's different beliefs; it's different views that people got, financial situations that people fight over. I don't feel that war is right but I don't feel like a person should get hit and not fight back. So it's a catch 22 right now, somebody done got hit and a decision must be made. It's just in God's hands now.
Daz Dillinger: It was terrible disaster and like Bush said those who are responsible is gonna get their motherfuckin' jaw knocked off! We all gotta stand as a people, do what we have to do, continue to pray for the victims, as well as ourselves and the enemy. America God bless!
DJ Evil Dee: R.I.P. to all of the people who lost their lives in this tragedy. My prayers go out to all the people who lost love ones at this time.
Kurupt: Yeah, we gonna whoop their ass, they better stay off the fuckin' streets and go home! And to the victims and their families, ya'll keep ya head up, we all ridin' with ya'll, it's gonna get handled. But there isn't really anything positive to say about this situation.
Jise One: Today I'm at a loss of words to even start trying to express how I feel about what has happened in New York. Until [Tuesday] morning on the date of September 11, I was only filled with such an anticipation, going about my day, giving praise that The Arsonists are finally releasing Date Of Birth. No more than 35 minutes later, I hear that the first plane crashed into the first tower. I immediately turn the television on, and bam! I see this plane come out of nowhere and rams right into the second tower. People jumping out of windows, was at that moment, the most horrible thing I've could've seen in my life and bam! I start seeing the first tower collapse! Then bam! The second tower goes down. My life, whether I like it or not, will never be the same after seeing such a thing. Growing up in the neighborhood, seeing drug abuse, teenage pregnancy, young kids dying couldn't compare to what I've seen on the date of September 11. I could get a little more detailed when I've really thought this through with some rest cause I haven't been sleeping that well. My condolences to the victim's families and the families of those who survived this tragic event. Peace!
RBX: I think it was a complete travesty, man. So many innocent lives were lost. I know there's a lot of political things going of right now that the public don't know about, but as far as I know that was wrong and it shouldn't have been done. You've got problems; you take it up with the person you got problems with. That all I got to say.
Sir Jinx: The scariest thing about that whole situation on Tuesday is I was in New York and I saw it, straight up Like, if you look at the footage and you see the debris falling out, them is people jumping to their death, man! That was a real traumatic experience for me! By me doing my DJ thing, and living my life, your life can come to a screeching halt by some other person's negligence, nahmean. It's kind of wild, and it hit me hard man. See, I'm a producer and I produce my music and that's definitely a mood changer, like that can make me make music about that environment. That environment is so dark and unknown; you don't know where it came from. So it's a definitely a vibe, and it was really hard for me.
Wordsworth: I'm mad shocked! I used to work there last year! The U.S. got caught sleeping, what happened to airport security? My condolences to all the victims and their families.
Q-Unique: The day started with high anticipation because my [Arsonists'] new album was dropping...we were also scheduled to do an in-store at fat beats...I was excited...anyway, I was chillin with my son about to drop him off with my mom, all of a sudden my phone rang...my mom had said that a plane had crashed into the twin towers...so I'm thinking no fucking way...my mom must be bugging...sure enough I turned on the TV and I see the second plane hit the other tower...my jaw dropped...all of a sudden...my LP didn't matter...I held on to my son in fright and automatically knew this was more than just an accident...so I started callin loved ones that I knew worked in the area...particularly my father who works in the building next door.. I didn't get an answer, so now I'm full of panic...Eclipse from fat beats calls and says, "I don't think ya in-store is happenin" in my way this is eclipse just showin concern, he was just as confused as I was...we hung up, then my family members started callin one by one askin..."Where's ya father"? So now I'm nervous...my son's mother called. She was okay thank God...she had to make her way towards the Bronx; everything down town was shut down. So I tried callin my fathers cell phone, the phone picked up and all I heard was screaming, so now I'm really buggin the fuck out, yelling hello, hello! The phone disconnects. Again at this point, the LP doesn't matter...it's interesting how one thing can change the state of people in a matter of seconds...eventually after hours of just staying still in my living room, watching the disaster on the news, my father calls me...he is safe, and tells me he witnessed the whole thing...the planes, the people jumping to their deaths, the fires, the smoke, debris, and glass all over the place...and how he had to walk almost to the Bronx from there...which is and incredible journey...what does this experience tell me...well, the first thing that comes to mind is the song by Dead Prez, which keeps on going over in my head..."it's bigger than Hip Hop"...it also definitely shows you that you cant sleep on nobody...for real...now I do feel anger, sadness, grief, and confusion...why pick on people that have nothing to do with government politricks...these are innocent people...and all races where involved...lots of people worked in those buildings...black, white, Latino, Asian, including people of Arabian decent...plus the people on the planes that where killed, including the children...and if you're a father like myself, and many other Hip Hop parents...let's just say its not something you want to even fathom...this is a tragedy...and before I go on...we just cannot go around thinking that all arabians (muslims) are to blame...so we can not just go up to any Muslim in the street and harm them...this is not the answer...we must wait until we have proof beyond reasonable doubt as to who these people are that could've thought this disaster, apprehend them, and punish them...right now, the weather is beautiful in NY, and yet, its cold and grim...and just think we [The Arsonists'] had an album coming out, that same day...and for some reason...it just doesn't matter as much...I talked to Swel and Jise and we came to a conclusion...50% of our share, of the earnings of this album [Date Of Birth], will be giving to any support group towards this disaster, this is a way for hip hoppers to give in a time of need to a real cause...life...peace and God bless... |

Columns on attack of America |
| Posted Sunday, September 16, 2001 by Jon |
Rap and The Aftermath By AlafinO
On behalf of the author, this articles DOES NOT in anyway reflect the views of Hitemup.Com or it’s webmasters. Any comments should be directed to alafino@hotmail.com.
After the tragic events on September 11, 2001, most of the world was deeply saddened. America, even as it’s blend of complex figures, came together in a vow to rid themselves of the unseen enemy killing its people. As minorities, and the main groups that compose the color of hip hop and rap music, we must be saddened; not only from the fact that our people were also killed, but by the fact that innocent people were killed in general.
Death is no laughing matter. We can watch shows and hear people joke about war and its all fun and games, but when the audience are the casualties, the laughter turns to jeers and violence.
At this time, it is not right to say what we do next, but as a hip hop, rap and Tupac fan, I can’t help but to think what I should think about all of this. I can’t cheer, because death is wrong and none of this should be happening. I also can’t cheer because regular people, the ones who I don’t have beef, the ones who didn’t make society this way were killed. I also can’t be supportive towards the government, even if lives were taken because in my opinion it was their fault the people were killed.
I think rap music and hip hop as a whole, needs to come together and say what they really think. By saying this, I mean past the condolences and past the tears of sorrow and mourning, and address where we go from here.
After watching the pictures from TV, I saw Americans coming together. Now even as I do mourn, I can’t help but to be patriotic. In rap music, we criticize politicians and leaders all the time. I believe we should mourn, but supporting these same leaders who inflicted this pain on the world isn’t the necessary option.
As Tupac said, in ‘Letter To The President,’ “That blind b**ch ain’t never did s**t for me, my history full of caskets and war, my whole black nation at war, whole family behind bars.”
To be honest, our leaders have killed tens of thousands, if not millions, of people worldwide, not to mention their contributions to the death toll at home. For centuries my people and people fighting our rights were killed here. Therefore, I, myself, will never fight for America, but I will try to lead America into the right mind.
Hip hop, rap and Tupac did not support these terrorists or terrorism, but remember that whatever you as a person does about these tragic events, always have a critical mind. These leaders who we are blindly backing put this strain on us because they weren’t doing their job right. Don’t be all that mad at the thief, be mad at the person who left the window open.
As a rap fan and someone who knows about the government, I am not prepared to go to war and kill more lives over this; because if I do, there will be another young man out there saying this same type of thing somewhere in the world because I was fighting for people I’ve never met.
Death is sad, but the lives can never be taken back. In the aftermath, all I can do is relieve the pain through my music. If you’re a hip hop and Tupac fan, or just a human being, look past the surface and look at the situation critically. If you have any comments, please email me at alafino@hotmail.com.
(This article was written on a very sensitive issue, in no way is it intended to stray people off the point that the death of innocent lives witnessed in the last week was an inhumane and barbaric act which is unacceptable and cannot be condoned or justified.)
UNITY & CARING By: Jayel
What occurred this past Tuesday is still somewhat surreal to me. Everyone knows that this was a horrible day that not one of us would wish upon our greatest enemy. The pictures of the World Trade Center in ruins and the dead Americans lying along the streets depressed me to such a degree that I can only watch the news for a very short time before I feel sick.
This unspeakable catastrophe did however bring about the best in (most) people. I can recall my father telling me of the “old days” when people would help one another. When you’re car broke down on the highway someone would pull over to lend a hand. Now you’re stuck there as people wiz by in their cars not even giving any thought to you. I suppose it’s somewhat sad that it takes something so evil to show that people still care. At any rate it makes me smile, it shows that people are not entirely self-centered and that maybe the next time you break down someone will pull over and lend a hand.
It was beautiful to see Black and White working amongst one another almost as if they don’t notice a difference. This is on another level. This is about helping your fellow man or woman regardless of whether you like them or not. This is larger than the silly beef’s that people have. This is about caring.

With regard to Tuesday's attack |
| Posted Saturday, September 15, 2001 by Jon |
I have received numerous accounts from people covering all aspects of the world with regard to the recent attack in America. One thing that has been commented on many times, and something I am very sad to see, is that some people are deciding who the enemy is based on racial ties. People are being beaten, sometimes even killed, and children are being tormented, simply because they share the faith or resemble the people who are being accused of the terrorist attack on the United States. I hope to encourage people to see past racial ties and stay united in defiance of the terror these terrorists hoped to create.

They were heading east at a high speed on Camino Diablo east of Vasco Road in their silver-coloured Chevy Impala 2002. The driver over-corrected back to the left and lost control of it and it flipped several times before stopping at a field. They had been drinking alchohol and only one of them was wearing seatbelt. Our prayers goes out to their family and friends. May they rest in peace. |

"Meet The Living Dead" article a diss to Pac |
| Posted Sunday, September 2, 2001 by Rukas |
In a UK magazine called "News Of The World" there was a two page section called "Meet The Living Dead". The section was all about how people think various dead celebraties are alive, Elvis, John Lennon, and Tupac, just to name a few.
Here is what the author had to say about Tupac:
"Rapper Tupac Shakur had good reason to want out. He had built a career on lyrics inviting his many enemies to come and have a go, and in 96 someone did. Despite autopsy pics on the net, fans beleive Tupac is biding his time for a safe return. And dead or alive, new Tupac singles keep coming - under the name Makaveli (after Machiavelli, a philosopher who encouraged deception). Tupac's taste, however, has been mortally wounded - he can't stop rapping over terrible Mister Mister ballads."
I think this is a diss from someone who obviously doesnt know much about Tupac. Whens the last time a single came out under the alias Makaveli, and other then Until The End Of Time, when has Pac rapped over a Mister Mister sample.

Tupac: "I'm coming back, expect me" |
| Posted Saturday, September 1, 2001 by Jon |
With all the remixes and editing being done with Tupac's music it's sometimes hard to distinguish between what Tupac wanted to get across and what the industry wants to do to sell records.
Tupac will appear on the song "Untouchable" which will be released by Left Eye on here debut solo LP, Supernova, which will be released this fall. This song is bound to fuel alive theories as at the very end of the song Tupac says "Expect me ni**a like you expect Jesus to come back, expect me ni**a, I'm coming ..."
In a recent interview Left Eye refused to answer whether or not she recorded the song with Tupac.
