| Eminem and DMX ? | | Posted Friday, September 29, 2000 by Jon | Apparently
DMX is scheduled to appear alongside Eminem, Limp Bizkit, Xzibit and Papa Roach
for a few stops of the Anger Management Tour.
Is it me, or does
this seem odd. I've heard several songs in which Eminem and DMX take shots at
each other.
On the title song of Eminem's Marshal Mathers LP he says:
Yo, you might see me
joggin, you might see me walkin You might see me walkin a dead rottweiler dog with
it's head chopped off in the park with a spiked collar hollerin at him cause
the son of a bitch won't quit barkin(grrrr, ARF ARF)
and in DMX's song Party Up he says:
And I don't know who the fuck you
think you talkin to but I'm not him, aight slim? So watch what you do Or
you gon' find yourself, buried next to someone else |

| Reason "Friends" was remixed | | Posted Friday, September 29, 2000 by Chris | | I'm not
sure, but from what I've heard the reason that Big Hutch remixed
"Friends" is because Death Row Records couldn't get clearance to use
the Whodini sample that the original version is using, if that's true then fuck
Whodini! Big Hutch is a great producer and hopefully he can come up with some
tight beats for "Friends." |

| Snoop and Daz disses on Too Gangsta | | Posted Friday, September 29, 2000 by Jon | I got an
email from Joseph Santos who told
me he got an advance copy of the DR's Too Gangsta for Radio. He mentioned some
harsh disses to both Snoop and Daz in the CD's insert. I don't have any
confirmation on whether this is true or not, but here's what he had to say.
On
the insert is a copy of written letter from Snoop to Suge and a typed letter
from Daz to Suge. Snoop says that he has no beef with him and he wanted it
resolved peacefully. He stated that its DRE and Daz that has beef with him and
that the long beach crips are just his groupies that smoke and get high. I dont
believe it either... i was trippin' when i read it. Daz was almost begging for
his life... apologizing and looking for a peaceful resolution. Saying that he
can work while getting death threats or what not"
Damn, that's
harsh. |

| Two double CDs instead of The Safe | | Posted Thursday, September 28, 2000 by Chris | | Amaru
Entertainment didn't like the idea with releasing a Tupac four disc box set like
Death Row Records wanted. They didn't think it was fair that the fans would have
to pay the money that a four disc box set would cost. Instead they decided that
they'll be releasing two double albums at different times next year. Good
decision! | Source: Makaveli4ever.com |

| "Friends" remixed? | | Posted Thursday, September 28, 2000 by Chris | | Whoever
said that Death Row Records don't change unreleased Tupac's songs? Well, that's
bullshit. Death Row Records rapper and producer Big Hutch have remixed
"Friends" - one of the best Tupac songs of all time. Once again Death
Row Records fuck up Tupac's work. I don't have anything against Big Hutch, he's
both a great rapper and producer, but the production of "Friends" was
as good as it could be. |

| Expect The Safe to be 2 discs | | Posted Wednesday, September 27, 2000 by Jon | | By now
most people have heard Deathrow's plan to release the majority, if not all
remains of Tupac's work, in an album titled The Safe. I've heard from
several sources that the album is going to be a double cd, not a 4 disc box set
as was planned. |

| RIAA closes Texas Bootleggers | | Posted Wednesday, September 20, 2000 by Jon | The
Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) helped put an end to two more
pirating operations last week in Garland, Texas. On September 14, members of the
Texas Department of Public Safety, with assistance from the RIAA¹s Anti-Piracy
Unit in Texas, executed a search warrant at Kode Red, a retail outlet located at
3460 W. Walnut, #E-2 in Garland, TX. According to a press statement released by
the RIAA, among the items seized were three CD-R towers, containing a total of
12 eight-speed CD-R burners, 329 blank CD-Rs, 528 jewel cases, 898 pirate CD-R
labels, and 373 completed alleged pirate CD-Rs. The CD-R burners had the
capability to produce up to 720 pirate/counterfeit CD-Rs per eight-hour day, the
amount of time the burners were in operation daily, which translates into a
potential annual loss to the industry of close to $4 million dollars.
The
RIAA and Texas Department of Public Safety also obtained consent to search Ikon
Records, which is located within the International Plaza in Garland, TX. Four
hundred six alleged pirate CD-Rs and 179 alleged counterfeit CD-Rs were seized
at this location.
The confiscated CD-R¹s included such artists as
Scarface, Eminem, the Big Tymers, Dr. Dre, 2Pac, Sade, Keith Sweat.
Charges against the Kode Red storeowner are pending while charges against the
owner of Ikon Records have yet to be filed. | Source:

| Eminem mentions Pac inspiration | | Posted Wednesday, September 20, 2000 by Jon | Eminem
talked about Pac in the 2000 issue of Request Magazine published buy Sam Goody.
"I
like Eddie Murphy. I like George Carlin. But comedians didn't really inspire me.
If there was one artist who inspired me more than anyone, it was Tupac. Not just
his music, but his life in general. He had that kinda fuck the world
attitude."
"I love Biggie for an emcee. He was probably one of
the greatest. But Tupac was the greatest songwriter that ever lived and probably
ever will live. The more he went through his personal problems, the more you
could relate to him and know that his music was true. And I think my music is
becoming truer by the minute, the more shit that I go through in my personal
life. Not saying that I'm trying to be like Tupac, but he definitely inspired me
as a songwritter." | Source: Amber |

| E-40 Speaks About Source Fight | | Posted Friday, September 15, 2000 by Rukas | Below is
an open letter from E-40 to thesource.com, describing his experiences of that
night and his relationship with Mack Minister.
E-40 writes...
On
Tuesday, August 22, 2000 at The Source Awards, while I was visiting a member of
the Cash Money Millionaires, I was verbally assaulted and physically attacked by
a person known as Andre Dow, a.k.a. Mack Minister.
Andre Dow has, over
the last four years, followed and stalked me. He has shown up uninvited to
numerous events, at which I am scheduled to appear, and events that I have
arranged and sponsored. Four years ago when no one would give Andre Dow a break
in the business I gave him an opportunity to appear on my album, Hall Of Game.
Andre Dow was paid for his services under his contract. Since his appearance on
my album, he has used his association with that to make people believe that he
is a part of my crew. Because of his failures outside of the opportunities I
have given him, Andre Dow has taken a personal belief that I owe him for my
success. Andre Dow has the same birthday as mine. He has gone as far as showing
up at my birthday party representing that it is his party and thanking everyone
for coming. He has appeared, uninvited, at events representing that he is
appearing on behalf of me and my company. He is not an employee of mine, and
outside of working, under contract, on Hall Of Game, he has no association with
me or Sic Wid It Records.
On August 22, 2000, at the Source Awards, all
persons receiving awards, performing, and people who were VIPs, were assigned
seating in the front row area of the stage. Andre Dow did not have an assigned
seat but was in the front row area changing seats, as seats became open, as
groups and individuals would go backstage to perform and leave their seats
empty.
At the break, just prior to the confrontation, Andre Dow
approached me and began to rant and rave in an incoherent voice. He began to
spit and cuss at me stating I owed him. Myself and others asked him to calm
down. I tried to take a non-aggressive role. At the same point, he began to
approach me spitting, cussing, and threatening to do me. He began to reach out
at me, grabbing my necklace and pendant, and I went to push him back away from
me. The next thing I know, I am being grabbed at and taken out of the Arena by
my body guard. When I got outside, I noticed that my $30,000 necklace/pendant
and $40,000 bracelet had been taken.
I never saw Andre Dow again that
night or since. No criminal charges were brought against me by the Pasadena
District Attorney's Office and I fully cooperated with the Pasadena Police
investigation.

| Suge Free or Not? | | Posted Thursday, September 14, 2000 by Rukas | | There's
been a lot of speculation over whether or not Suge is out of jail, some sources
say he is, some say he isn't. Ch 11 news reported today that he is out.
Suge said in his last interview in the Source that when he gets released, he
isn't going to tell many people because he wants to stay out of the media. And
as for the argument that the Official Death Row site would post the news as soon
as he got out, I doubt the first thing on Suge's mind would be to e-mail DR
webmasters and tell them he's free. |

| Interview with the Shakur Estate | | Posted Wednesday, September 13, 2000 by Chris | Here's an
interview with the Shakur Estate made by Makaveli4Ever.com.
Makaveli4ever.com: What is Mr.
Farber's role with the estate?
Shakur Estate: Mr. Farber is one of
the attorneys dealing with the intellectual property issues involving the
Estate.
What could happen to sites who do not cooperate with the
redirection?
This is not a question of "redirection." The
Estate intends to reclaim all of those domain names that infringe on its
trademarks.
What is the reasoning behind the redirection?
What
it is is an attempt to stop those who are utilizing Tupac's name recognition to
line their own pockets at the expense of the Estate. Virtually every one of
these so-called "fan" sites have something for sale. For example, the
TupacShakur site, which is not affiliated in any way with the Estate, is selling
a book and jewelry. None of this is authorized. Moreover, again virtually
everyone of these sites have bootlegged music posted on them. The posting of
that music is plain stealing. It steals from the fans because they get an
inferior product that was never meant to be released in that form. It steals
from Afeni because she isn't compensated for her son's work in producing that
music. Legitimate "fan" sites are not a concern. The concern are those
who seek to make money or cheat Afeni - something Tupac would never have
permitted.
Why has Afeni waited up until now to take action?
The
fact is that the Estate has not "waited." Rather, we have attempted to
deal first with the most egregious violators and we have attempted to do that by
negotiation and litigation.
Is the estate planning on making current
updates to the site (tupacshakur.com) with the latest information like fanbased
sites have been?
I think you misunderstand. I have no idea where you
got the idea that the TupacShakur site was an official site. It is not. The
Estate has started its own site (2paclegacy.com) and will update it regularly.
Can
you give a few names that are also owned by the Shakur estate, ex.. 2pac,
Thugnation?
The Estate as a number of trademarks, including by the
way, Makaveli. If you are interested in them I will have them sent to you.
Some
people are taking this as an attack, when they might not know the full story,
how do you feel about them and what do you really want them to understand about
the redirection?
What I want people to understand is that theft is
theft. You can try and justify it by saying you are a "fan," but in
the end you are just a thief if you take something that belongs to someone else
and don't pay for it. If you are really a fan of Tupac's, you will not support
those that show him this disrespect - but who wouldn't have dared to do so if he
were alive and here to defend himself.

| Eazy and Pac extortion victims ? | | Posted Tuesday, September 12, 2000 by Jon | | Were Eazy
E and 2Pac victims of Domestic terrorist threats and extortion? According to
recently released FBI documents there was strong enough belief that the FBI
launched an extensive investigation .. The SmokingGun.com website has unearthed
some unsettling FBI documents through the Freedom of Information Act which shows
that there was a major investigation into this matter. The FBI launched an
extensive criminal investigation in October 1996 after receiving tips that the
Jewish Defense League [JDL} was extorting money from rap stars in LA.. According
to the FBI papers the case was closed in May 1999 with the agency unable to
corroborate the claims.. For more information on this check out the Smoking Gun site. | Source: DaveyD |

| More Tupac influences in football | | Posted Monday, September 11, 2000 by Jon | Interview
with Duce Staley Eagles RB
The mere notion he could be chillin' while his
slashing running style was killin' off would-be tacklers is indeed like music to
Staley. The tailback does not condone the violence of Tupac's words, nor is he a
thug, but he does connect to much of what the rapper authored before his death.

this is true the Outlawz's Ride Wit' Us Or Collide Wit' Us will be
released on October 31, Halloween. Guest appearances include Tupac, Bad Azz and

It's going to be a concept album. The music will sound like a mixture between
Kraftwerk and George Clinton." Dre is also consindering about releasing a Up

"The truest sh*t he ever said". Of course 'Against All Odds' was The

Arrowhead Pond in Anaheim also featured Kurupt, Xzibit, SugaFree, Tha Alkaholiks
and Eminem. Quik missed his slot when it came time for him to perform midway
through the night. With the exception of Eminem, every act when on prior to Quik
taking the stage. He limped onto the stage around midnight, ripped off part of
his leg brace, and proceeded to perform many of his best cuts. | Source: AllHipHop.com |

| Tupac replaced by The Notorious B.I.G.? | | Posted Friday, September 8, 2000 by Chris | In Guinness Of World Records 2000 it said that
Tupac was the most successful gangsta rapper. However in Guinness Of World
Records 2001 it says that The Notorious B.I.G. is the most successful
gangsta rapper just because Life After Death have been certified Diamond.
I think this is bullshit, because Tupac's albums together have sold more that
The Notorious B.I.G.'s albums together. Also, if Death Row Records just got off
their ass and updated the sales of All Eyez On Me it would have probably
been certified more than Diamond long before Life After Death was. Also,
Puff Daddy was mentioned as the most successful gangsta rap producer which is
also bullshit. First off, he's not a producer, he got others doing the job.
Second, his name shouldn't be mentioned together with gangsta rap, neither rap.
Third, he's not the most successful producer, Dr. Dre's even more successful. |

| Power 106 concert | | Posted Sunday, September 3, 2000 by Jon | Here's an
email I received about the Power 106 concert.
I went to the power 106
concert last night in anaheim cali. 2pac was getting love the whole night, from
jay z, but especially TQ, he even performed a couple of pacs tracks, whenever the
crowd heard a pac track they went crazy.
Kurupt was there with shade
sheist and at the end of there set kurupt squashed all the beef between him and
ja rule and introduced ja rule as his east coast homie. Well there was a lot of
other $hit goin on but that was some of the notables. | Source: $am |

| The Outlawz dissing Eminem | | Posted Friday, September 1, 2000 by Chris |
Here's a part of the Outlawz interview which is in the latest issue of XXL.
"Message
to Eminem," the Outlawz's E.D.I. explodes, "cut that shit out."
E.D.I.
(pronounced EE dee) and partners Napoleon, Kastro and Young
Noble are situated in a lounge at Burbank, California's Enterprise Studios. The
2Pac protégés are explaining why they've got problems with Detroit's most
famous rapper. The slightly pudgy E.D.I. sits between the bald-headed Kastro and
the svelte Young Noble on a U-shaped couch, while the baby-faced Napoleon posts
up across the room on a stiff-backed chair. But the crew might as well be in a
boxing ring the way verbal jabs are being thrown around. "You can talk
about Christina Aguilera and all of them," E.D.I. continues angrily,
"but keep 'Pac's name out of your mouth, because that's dangerous to your
health."
See,
the Outlawz didn't appreciate Eminem saying that he likes to, "Pop the same
shit that got 2Pac killed," on "Busa Rhyme," from Missy
"Misdemeanor" Elliott's 1999 album, Da Real World. And they
certainly didn't appreciate "Marshall Mathers," the title cut from
Eminem's new LP, where he says he's, "Leaning out a window with a cocked
shotgun/Driving up the block in the car that they shot 'Pac in."
"He
says some shit that makes me think he's gay, because every time I hear him, he
has 'Pac's name in his mouth," Napoleon adds heatedly. "We feel like
he's on some disrespectful shit, because we don't hear him doing that shit about
Biggie." |

| Did Napoleon's cousin kill Kadafi? | | Posted Friday, September 1, 2000 by Chris | | There's a
Tupac tribute in the latest issue of The Source. It got interviews with
the Outlawz and Tupac's ex-wife Keisha Morris. I don't have it yet, but from
what I've heard Napoleon says that it was his cousin that killed Kadafi. They
were drinking and got tipsy, his gun shot off hitting Kadafi in the face and
killed him. Napoleon said that it was him that got his cousin to turn himself
in. I'll post more information when I get it. |

| Outlawz interview | | Posted Friday, September 1, 2000 by Chris | Here's
some stuff that the Outlawz talk about in the latest issue of XXL (with
the Wu-Tang Clan on the cover).
They said that Fatal is still a member of
the Outlawz, he's still in jail though. He'll be together with the rest of the
Outlawz on their upcoming album on Outlaw Recordz and the Outlawz will be on his
upcoming solo album on Rap-A-Lot Records. E.D.I said that Fatal is a grown man
who wanted to go solo and they aren't gonna stop him. "The core of the
family is still strong" E.D.I says. The Outlawz upcoming album will be
released sometime in October and it won't feature Tupac. "We need to
establish our own identity" Kastro says. "Too much shit though that
I'm too lazy to summarize it all" Napoleon says when they was asked about
them leaving and suing Death Row Records. "We have nothing personal against
Suge. We respect him but wanted our own label. How can you do business with some
who is locked up?" They says that all the goodwill that Nas put forth in
"We Will Survive" was completely erased when Nas said "Thug Life
is mine" on Mobb Deep's "It's Mine". "Master P, he could've
stole a Pac rap book from 1984 and could of kicked 30 of them raps. His brother
C-Murder, he took a song that was not even released, remade it on his last album
and then dedicated it to Pac. He was like, 'I'm going to steal your song, but
I'm gonna dedicate it to you.' Ja Rule, he don't know who he wants to be. Ja
will give it up and say, Pac influenced me but Master P and, C-Murder, they act
like it's their own style. They've got Krazy, another fake Pac. Mobb Deep has
problems cause they don't wanna holler us." Also, they're mad at Eminem
because of his constant reference of Tupac in his songs. They feel that it's
disrespectful and wonder how come doesn't do the same with The Notorious B.I.G.
They want Eminem to holla back at them about this situation. I'll post the whole
interview when I get it. | Source: Markko Outlaw and ThE
