Big week in my home town, Vancouver
Posted Friday, March 31, 2000 by Jon
It's a big ass week for hiphop in my hometown of Vancouver BC. We got Snoop out here filming his new movie, Bones. A friend of a friend said she saw Snoop chilling in a club out here called Funky Planet and he was at the Lakers/Grizzlies NBA game on Wednesday night. Kurupt, Daz and Nate Dogg are gonna be performing at the Impulse Cabaret tomorrow night, I'm definately gonna check that out. Hopefully Snoop will be in the house, and I'll meet him with a fat sac of Purple Indiga/Northern lights, no sticks, no stems, no seeds. Then we got Redman and Methodman performing at the Comodore on April 7th. Nice to see the Rap scene recognizing it's influence north of the border.

Maxim rates Born Again in worst albums
Posted Friday, March 31, 2000 by Jon
Maxim had some harsh things to say about Biggie in their April edition. They had a column rating the top 30 worst albums of all time. They rated Biggie's album Born Again #21. Under the album cover reads "We're still honestly surprised that 325-pound rapper Biggie Smalls could roll himself out of a flying-buttress-reinforced bed, let alone drag all his morbidly obese asses into a recording studio. Is it any wonder his creative output actually increased after he became the notorious D.O.A.? Released more than a year after his old-growth-forest-depleting coffin was spiked shut, this second posthumous disc is yet another meaningless tribute to hos and bitches. Oddly enough, no cover of 'Wipeout'." Then it had a picture of Biggie with a quote that read "Mofo Big Pun stole my whole act." While the album does suck, it's mostly Puffy's weak efforts to string a couple songs into an entire album. I thought the dis on the death of him and Big Pun, was in bad taste even for Maxim.

New 2Pac Album Rumored
Posted Thursday, March 30, 2000 by Rukas
Once again there are rumors of a new 2Pac album floating around. There are many different versions of the story, some say it is named War Wounds (which was the supposed title of the rumored album last year), others say it is called Makaveli: The Lost Soul, or Lost Scriptures (which was a rumored album from 2 years ago!). Release dates range from August to January 2001. No official word from either Death Row or Amaru, so I wouldn't hold your breath. This isn't to say that an album wont be released this year, but it probably wont be one of these.

Supafly (Dogg House) = Soopafly (DR)
Posted Thursday, March 30, 2000 by Rukas
Some people may not know this, but the Supafly who is listed as an artist for Dogg House Records is in fact Soopafly from Death Row Records. Soopafly is stuck in a contract with DR and they aren't letting him leave or release his album. So he has used this alias to release under Dogg House Records.

Thug Lord World Wide
Posted Thursday, March 30, 2000 by Rukas
Yukmouth assures me that "Thug Lord" will be a world wide release when it drops this June. Which is good news for me, since in order to get his last album "Thugged Out", us Aussies have to pay around $50 to import it. The album is close to, if not complete so it is unlikely that it will be pushed back. I just hope that Rap-A-Lot really promote this album, because Yukmouth is one of the tightest rappers out their right now, and its a shame not many people know about him.

Puffy screws Notorious
Posted Wednesday, March 29, 2000 by Jon
Puffy has reportedly screwed up with his new magazine, Notorious. Apparently the magazine has flopped, he's closed it down and now he can't pay his staff. Puffy denies that the magazine has been closed, but says that it's been temporarily halted. Funny that he would call the magazine Notorious, you'd think he'd have capitalized on Biggie enough already. Click here for details.

Snoop raising the West
Posted Wednesday, March 29, 2000 by Jon
Snoop has been making serious waves as of late, after leaving Deathrow he was criticized harsh for joining No Limit. Now, with his new record label, Dogg House Records, he looks poised to bring the return of the West Coast. According to Snoopsdogghouse.com Nate Dogg, Supafly, Tray Deee, Goldie Loc, RBX, Kokane, Butch Cassidy, CPO aka Boss Hogg (Picture me rollin), are all signed to Dogghouse Records. That's a hell of a tight roster. He's currently working on an upcoming film, Bones, being shot in my home town, Vancouver. And plans to start filming a new movie "Snoopafly," a remake of the 1972 blaxploitation film, "Superfly". Not to mention his appearances on Dre's CD Chronic 2001 and joining NWA in the place of Easy E for their reunion. The LBC is riding again, lets hope we can see the Outlawz start dropping albums soon, you know the Bay is gonna keep it flowing, and hopefully the west will be on top of its game again soon. This down south, Jay-Z, Nas, DMX shit was played out before it got started if you wanna ask me.

I switched back to the UBB due to serious problems with the DCForum, I wanted to do something a bit different but I didn't like the script. The UBB is the most reliable and probably the nicest to use, so it's all good.

The altercation resulted from an incident last summer, Kenrick, who is an aspiring rapper with his group Slanid, was handing out demo tapes outside Hit Factory recording Studio. Q-Tip phoned security and removed him. Kenrick confronted Q-Tip in the Virgin Megastore saying he "bitched out on us", and Q-Tip hit him, breaking his jaw. Q-Tip's due in court April 22.

Words of Wisdom on fake ass bitches
Posted Wednesday, March 22, 2000 by Jon Peters
If you haven't heard yet, there's a site that's been dissing HitEmUp. I'm going to address this issue once, and that will be the end of it. I'm not going to mention the url because any publicity I give them with only increases their traffic.

This started a few weeks ago with with information that Fatal was locked up. I got a bunch of emails regarding it and one guy included the mailing address. Chris got an email confirmation about the fact that Fatal was locked up from Yukmouth himself. So I posted the information and included the address. Then I heard a bunch of rumors floating around that this site was dissing me for taking their news. I checked their site and saw the same address, I assumed the reason they were dissing me was because of the address to Fatal that I was mailed. The person who mailed it to me, may or may not have seen it on their site. I removed the news anyway.

Then I get a bunch of emails saying that they were dissing my site, and a bunch of friends with direct contact with them, saying that they were dissing HitEmUp as well. Never once did they mention anything to me. And this is why.

The site is trying to make a name for themselves. They didn't say anything to the public, but talked shit behind closed doors. This was an attempt to get me to attack them, in which case they could start a beef claiming self defence. Read through the posts they made and you'll be able to see this, by the way they've used their words.

The site I'm referring to is weak. They claim to be all this and that, but in reality they aren't. They dis numerous Tupac sites. They're attempting to bring other sites down, in order to raise themselves up, because their content alone isn't enough. They claim to have more members than me, better content than me, more visitors than me etc. Both are weak claims. In statics log comparison I imagine I'm probably atleast 5 times higher. But that really isn't important to me. The site claimes that it's #1 on the Tupac top40 etc. Since when ? The top40 really doesn't matter to me either anyway. I'll tell you why. I started this site to represent for Pac 4 years ago, and I'm still representing Pac today. Sure I want the site to do well, sure we get a lot of visitors, sure we're the highest ranked Tupac site on the Top40, but that's not what's most important to us.

The site I'm referring to costs a maximum of $35 an entire year to run. Yet they have 5 ads on 1 page. I imagine they make a few hundred dollars in sponsors a month. They claim to represent Tupac, they have a Tupac domain, and yet they're representing R&B. So to any visitors of the site I'm referring to, who this site claims have pledged loyalty to them, continue to pledge loyalty to the webmasters making money and representing R&B Music. They even go as far as to give away mixed bootleg tapes. While a desperate attempt to lure visitors, it's a harsh disgrace to Tupac. Anybody seen Thug Immortal where Tupac rages on the bootlegger ? Well if Tupac was alive he'd tear the html out their frame. A Tupac site not representing Tupac is dissing Tupac.

We're going to continue representing Tupac to the fullest, and any other Tupac sites that keep it real and represent with truth. Fuck you fake ass tricks. For Life.

One Love since 96.

Peace.

Snoop reference to Tupac
Posted Wednesday, March 15, 2000 by Jon Peters
If you haven't listened to the song "Deathrow is Bitches" by Snoop yet, you should check it out a couple posts down. It as a reference to Tupac in a few bars:

That nigga put my nigga Tupac in the mix
had him fucking with some real OG shit
and nigga didn't know what he was gettin into
had him caught up in the middle while
he fucking with revenue

I think the song is retaliation for Deathrow dissing him in the Deathrow Uncut video and releasing a greatest hits cd that Snoop gets no royalties for. It's gonna set off a big time beef I'm sure. Apparantly the soundtrack to the Deathrow Uncut video is going to have big time disses to Snoop and Dre. Lets just hope it doesn't start off on some blood vs crips shit.

Snoop Disses Death Row
Posted Wednesday, March 15, 2000 by Rukas
I've gotten a lot of emails about a new Snoop track called "Death Row Bitchez". Its a unreleased track by Snoop featuring Goldie Loc, it may or may not be on the "Last Meal". I personally don't like the track much, I think its a weak effort at a diss song, Snoop just repeats the same stuff over and over again. Plus the beat is to loud and gets a bit annoying. Also, you would think that Snoop knew a lot more dirt about DR then he puts in this song, but maybe he's scared of getting killed (one line says "My life ain't worth losin "). Either way, it is a brave move for Snoop, something he would of never done without the support of Dre behind him.

Download "Death Row Bitchez" here.

Hammer protesting Proposition 21
Posted Wednesday, March 8, 2000 by Jon
Proposition 21 is a bill that would make law regulations to allow teenagers to be sent to adult prisons and allow any three youth standing around to be classified as a gang. Hammer made himself a prison cell outside the Jubilee Christian center where he pastors in San Jose and stayed there from March 5th to 7th in opposition to the bill.

Speaking of MC Hammer he has a new album coming out this year which should include the song Unconditional Luv, which Tupac gave to MC Hammer. Tupac did a few songs together with Hammer while on Deathrow. Hammer also plans to introduce a new form of streaming media on his internet website and rumor is his cd will contain 18 videos. I know he's been dissed a lot since his debut album sold over 10 million copies but I wouldn't sleep on him just yet.

Don't forget to vote for Hit 'Em Up on TRL
Posted Monday, March 6, 2000 by Jon Peters
Just want to remind everybody to vote at TRL to have HitEmUp played on MTV on March 7th. You can vote here. You have to scroll down to the bottom of the page and enter the info under other artist. If you can, phone in to MTV and request it as well. If your at school or work you can use a cell phone or a pay phone and I believe it's a free call.

Artist: 2Pac
Song Title: Hit Em Up

Don't forget. The media is sleeping on Pac because he's gone, they never showed the luv they shoulda when he was alive. Pac's enemies are showing fake luv trying to take his fan base and people close to Pac aren't really representing the way they probably should. Tupac was true to his fans, let me true to him. VOTE.

Puffy acts hardcore
Posted Sunday, March 5, 2000 by Jon
Puffy is apparently set to play in a movie called Made. The movie is about an organized crime boss, played by Puffy, who uses boxing as a money laundering scheme and two boxers get caught up in the mix. Gotta hand it to Puffy, if he's gonna act hardcore anyway, he might as well get paid for it. I would love to see the movie just so I can sit and laugh, and laugh, and laugh, and laugh, and laugh, and laugh, when Puffy gives that hardcore look of his. You know the one. Where he tilts his chin up, puts his lips together and nods his head street like to acknowledge somebodies presence. Yeah it'd be a good movie. HAHA. Man just writing this makes me laugh.
